
Soyabean crops
Soybean called as golden beans is belongs to legume family. It is native of East Asia. It is a rich source of Protein also excellent source of fibre. Oil extracted from soybean contain small amount of saturated fat. In Punjab, it plays an important role in crop .
Soyabean are high in protein and a distant source of both carbs and fat. They are a rich source of various vitamins ,minerals and beneficial compounds , such as insoflavones.
Season
Spring is the best time to plant soya beans. As an annual crop, soya beans grow from seed, produce and die in a single growing season. In areas that experience winter frosts, wait until two to three weeks after the last frost date to plant soybeans.
Planting soyabean
Soyabean grow best in loose , well - drained soil rich in organic matter. Soyabean prefer a soil P H of 6.0 to 6.8. Soyabean are tolerant of poor soil.
Duration
Soyabean for shelling and fresh use are ready for harvest 45 to 65 days after sowing. Dry soyabean require 100 or more days to reach harvest.
Applications of Soyabean
Some of the most common products produced with Soyabean are tofu, soy milk, soy sauce , TVP ( textured vegetable protein) and soy flour.
Production
In July August September the plant bloom.
From this blossoms,the soyabean plant grows small pods that contain the young seeds. The soybean is a self pollinating plant, which means that each flower has male and female parts. A single plant can produce seed and essentially clone itself.
Sowing
Two cropping seasons of soybean cream and springs seed rate-soybean grown for grain purpose need about 20 to 30 kg seed/ha but four fodder crop needs about 70 to 75 kg /ha during three seasons and 100 to 120 kg/ha during spring.
